Some patrons note that the cash-only payment policy can be an inconvenience, particularly for those accustomed to card payments. A few diners have mentioned longer wait times during peak hours; however, many agree that the food quality justifies any delays. Some reviews mention the limited vegetarian options compared to traditional fish & chips, though there are still dishes available to cater to diverse dietary needs. The restaurant not accepting reservations can occasionally lead to crowded dining moments, which might deter those looking for a quick meal. Regardless, these minor points don’t overshadow the overall positive experiences shared by visitors.
Some of the best fish and chips I have tasted from the Knaphill Fish Bar, cooked freshly to order. Highly recommended and worth going out of your way for. You can tell the owners really care about the quality and the details of their food and it really makes a difference. The double-cooked chips are excellent - cooked to perfection with a nice crisp outside and soft potato inside as they should be, and the sea bass was also perfectly cooked with very nice thin, crisp batter, not greasy / oily. It is unusual to find sea bass on the menu at a fish and chip shop but the flavour is very nice and well suited to being battered and fried. Good sized portions and value, sea bass and chips cost £9.40 (cash only). Friendly service and a nice clean shop.
Service was super friendly and great. Food absolutely matched it. The best fish that I’ve ever had!!
First customer to have the cheesy chips and I absolutely loved them. 10/10 hit the spot, the cheese was completely melted as well! Stunning fish & chips
Really great fish and chips, crispy batter, nice curry sauce, great service, will be going back (apparently they do a nice katsu curry as well)
